Ling Junwu

Ling Junwu who was born in 1960' at Suzhou city, lives in Jiangsu(one of Chinese province at the reach of Yangtse River) culture atmosphere and is very familiar with the art style of Jiangsu Shuiyin woodblock (woodblock printed with soluble inks). In some meanings, he was growing up with the developments of Jiangsu Shuiyin woodblock, and when he entered into this art career, he chose without any doubt this kind of art expression.
In 1998, Lin was in CAFA for postgraduate study in the printmaking department, and after the graduation, he stayed at CAFA as a teacher because of excellent notes. But in the modern city, he couldn't forget his Suzhou secret gardens and his memories for the garden. Man is never abstract; there is always some local culture differences, just like a high-blooded clan. For Ling Junwu's art career, the garden, the pool and Taihu Lake stone are culture gene in his life. Lin realized what he had lost only when he was apart from them, then, he gave up the teacher profession that many people dreamed, and went back to Suzhou, his hometown, like a tired bird back to his forest.
Of cause, he was not for walking in the gardens, but for inheriting more Chinese elegant art genes in his art life, for letting his art blood to come back to these tortuous corridors, and for getting more inspiration for his art creation.

He was born in 1962 at Suzhou city, graduated from Art department of Nanjing normal University, Jiangsu province. And in 1988, he went to Beijing for his postgraduate study of printmaking department of CAFA, and was teacher after his graduation. Now he is member of Chinese printmakers' Association, and painter of Jiangsu Printmaking Institute. His artworks were exhibited and awarded at national and international shows, such as in Spain, France and Germany.
