Pan Yuyu

Looking at Pan's artworks, you can find that the house, the bridge and the water bring you in an old and secret city where rivers across in length and breadth, bridges connect the street, very quiet, graceful and leisurable, all these have an obvious contrast with the noise and vociferation in the city. Maybe his artworks are clarifier for our heart, clean all the dust that fall on our heart, from here, we can find our true feeling that we haven't see for long time and can't meet in the space of reinforced concrete.

So, many people yearn towards and admire this tenderness. In his prints, we walked in the long stone alleyway, without any words, we just need use our eyes to admire her charm, use our ears to hear the whisper of water and use our heart to feel the past of carved windows.

Pan Yuyu, was born in 1944 at Suzhou city, Jiangsu province. He graduated from Suzhou Arts and Crafts College in 1962, and he continued his study at Central Arts and Crafts College in 1968. From 1980, he began his art creation at Suzhou Taohuawu New Year Print Institute. In 1984, he set up a research studio of Suzhou woodcuts, and in 1992, the Suzhou woodcuts Institute was founded, Pan was the director. Now he is member of Chinese Artists' Association, director of Chinese Printmakers' Association, high grade painter of Jiangsu Printmakers' Association and vice-president of Suzhou Artists' Association.
