Wang Zhaoliang

The yellow mountains are located in the southern part of Anhui Province, they are worthy to be called "there are no mountains in the world after climbing the Yellow mountains" because of its magnificent and famous scenic spots full of wonderful sights! The ancient Huizhou (old name for Anhui province) located on the foot of Yellow Mountains is also very famous because this earth nurtured too many outstanding person. Wang Zhaoliang is very lucky, he was born in Huizhou city and grew up there, with the influence of Huizhou's landscape and the local custom, his artworks are pure but very refined, simple but very elegant.

His technique of using graver is very changeable and concise, the line is very beautiful, with strong effect; his composition is very natural, full of life breath; his subjects are very abundant, we'll also find wonderful sights if we entered his print world. These are all from Wang zhaoliang's technique and his art taste. But his most outstanding artworks are those taken from Huizhou's village, farmer house, old street and trees, they are full of rich local culture and custom. These poetic landscapes will in my eyes in the daytime and in my dreams in the night, like be endowed with soul, came into something very beautiful and lyric.

Resume:
Wang Zhaoliang was born in 1944 at Huangshan city of Anhui province. Now he is member of Chinese Printmakers Association, member of Artists Association of Anhui Province and painter of Jiangdu Art Institut. He is especially good at Chinese traditional painting and woodblock. After 1983, more than his 500 artworks were published in provincial and national magazines. His artworks were showed in many national and international expositions and were collected by art museums and art collectors from USA, UK, Japan, Tai Wan and Hong Kong.
Wang is a representative of Anhui school printmakers, most of his prints are in black and white, and his favourite is the landscape of Anhui province: the famous Yellow Mountains and the special style of architecture.

1993 <Paradise in ancient Anhui> was elected in the 8th National Print Exhibition
<Paradise in ancient Anhui> and <Ancient Town besides Zhang River> won the first prize of National Teachers' Artworks Exhibition
1998 <Ancient Huizhou dream> was elected in provincial art exhition by Anhui province and Sichuan province, and was collected by Shenzhou Print museum.
1999-2001 <Ancient charm of Huizhou> and <First village in the world> was elected in Anhui provincial art exhibition and won the outstanding prize.
