Chen Yuping
The Eulogy of Spring depicts spring scenery that world is reviving, snow and ice are melting, and trees are budding. Teams of wide goose migrated back from north are flying and convoluting along with the torrential river. The bright sunshine illuminates all things on the vivid field.The picture features the unique sight in northern China, broad, splendid and gutty, resembling a piece of spring symphony.
Chen was born in 1947, and in 1983 he completed a printmaking course at CAFA. Now he is member of Chinese Printmakers' Association and Chinese Artists' Association. He is also a professional artist with the Heilongjiang province printmaking Institute, vice-chairman and secretary-general of the Provincial Print Council. He has been designated a Grade 1, National Artist.

1974 <The fading snow hurried the spring> was selected in the 5th National Art Exhibition, and was published on this exhibition catalogue. In the same year, this print was exhibited in the "Chinese modern artworks show" organized by UNESCO.

1995 <The long Great Wall> was selected in the International Art Exhibition for celebrating the 50 anniversary of the victory against the Fascist
1997 <Happy song> was selected in the 13th National Print Exhibition
1998 <The grass grows again when the spring breeze blows> was selected in the 14th National Print Exhibition and won the cooper prize
1999 <Song of the gale> won the outstanding artwork prize of the 9th National Art Exhibition
2000 <Abundant collection> was selected in the 15th National Print Exhibition
2002 <Red sun, dark green water and gray mountains> was selected in the National Art Exhibition and won an outstanding artwork prize
2002 <Moon night of Gusu city> was selected in the 16th National Print Exhibition and won an outstanding artwok prize
2003 <Bright moon> was selected in the first Beijing International Biennial Print Exhibition and was collected
2003 <Hot earth> won the copper prize in the second Chinese Golden Color Art Exhibition
Chen won many provincial prizes and Lu Xun prize. His artworks were collected by national and international art museums and collectors. He held four solo exhibitions in Japan. And the two books of his works <Chen Yuping Banhua Xuanji> were published. |
